Payfone chooses Spreckley for PR support to launch new Mobile Authentication technology

Sean Hand – Senior Account Manager at Spreckley

Spreckley, the UK’s independent B2B tech agency, has been awarded the contract to deliver media relations and thought leadership support to Payfone, the global leader in identify verification and customer authentication. This support will cover the launch of its convenient and secure Mobile Authentication technology, and work to raise Payfone’s company profile with UK media and across the UK’s financial services, B2B technology and fintech communities.

Payfone’s Mobile Authentication is a convenient and secure alternative to the use of SMS one-time passcodes (OTPs) during customer on-boarding, login and two-factor authentication. The technology has already been adopted by one of the world’s largest banks based in the UK.

Spreckley’s PR support for Payfone will help build brand awareness, and push Payfone’s Mobile Authentication as the go-to solution for all British businesses in need of an identity verification solution that has a much-improved customer experience and is far more secure than traditional SMS OTP solutions. The campaign will encompass a range of activities, including thought leadership, content writing and promotion of company news, and will help build Payfone’s media presence in UK-based IT, financial, fintech, business and accountancy publications.

Spreckley has a strong track record in the mobile security space, having worked with companies including Capital.com, Consult Hyperion and allpay, as well as a wide range of B2B technology clients across a variety of industries.

Keiron Dalton, VP at Payfone, said: “Customer identity verification and authentication processes are evolving, with the demands of PSD2 SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) placing further scrutiny on the efforts companies make to ensure customer data is secure. Payfone is leading the charge in this area, with our Mobile Authentication technology helping businesses to meet these new challenges.

“We’re eager to tell our story to the UK media and lend our voice to the constantly evolving debate around security and authentication. We needed a UK PR partner that could help us reach our key audiences more effectively and we are extremely confident that Spreckley has both the proven expertise and the understanding of our business needed to achieve our goals.”

Richard Merrin, Managing Director at Spreckley, added: “To win the Payfone account would be a real honour at any time, but it is particularly thrilling to our team here at Spreckley to secure a new account during the current global situation. This particular new business prospect emerged from a strong relationship between members of our team and a former client, highlighting the positive, long-lasting links we form with our clients at Spreckley.

“Moreover, the need for the technology offered by Payfone amongst UK businesses is higher now than ever before, with face-to-face customer authentication rapidly becoming the exception rather than the norm. We remain fully committed to our clients and helping to guide them through these challenging times, and look forward to supporting Payfone as it breaks into the UK market.”
