Avinash, Account Executive

What’s been the most exciting PR campaign you’ve worked on and why?

I get to work on a range of different campaigns here at Spreckley, because each client is so unique.

Most recently I got to work on a campaign where the client wanted to create an eCommerce platform in under a month. The platform would sell produce from the local area, supporting small businesses.

It was exciting because we had to gain momentum by pitching the story to the media and got to attend an event that discussed in detail the thought process behind the idea and how they went about it. I learned a lot from that experience!

What do you enjoy the most about working at Spreckley?

Definitely the atmosphere and people that work here. There’s no rigid office hierarchy, executives can sit next to account directors which makes it a level playing field. Also, we now have an office dog that comes in a few times a week which makes the environment even better.

How did you hear about Spreckley and why did you want to join?

I was previously working in housing and development PR, but it didn’t really appeal to me, so I started looking for a new role in tech PR. Because technology is always evolving it means you’re not working on the same project over and over again. You also get to work with some interesting clients, all of whom bring something different to the table.

If you weren’t in PR, what would you be doing instead?

I’ve always been interested in technology and chose to do IT during my A-levels. I was actually close to studying something relating to technology, like computer science but chose to do history instead. I think if I wasn’t in PR, I would probably have chosen to go down the computing avenue and do something along those lines.

Tell us one thing about you that surprises people?

A few years back after finishing university me and my mate decided to cycle from Slovakia to Austria which was really fun. From what I remember there was only one bridge that connected the two countries, in the specific region we were in. It wasn’t planned and we just decided to do it on the day, so inevitably we got lost on the way back.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

It would definitely be time travel. It would be good to see what life was like hundreds, even thousands of years ago. Likewise, it would be interesting to see what the world would look like in a hundred years’ time, especially seeing the impact climate change will have on the way people live.

Who inspires you?

I’m a big movie fan so I would have to say Martin Scorsese. He’s directed some of my favourite movies including Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

What do you collect, and why?

I actually enjoy collecting football tops. I love watching football but don’t really support a team, so this makes it easier when choosing what football top to buy. Rather than choosing a top from a team I like I just choose what design I like. My kits range from West Ham to the Japanese national kit.
